Faithful In A Few Things: I Can Do That

Faithful In A Few Things: I Can Do That
All of us would have to admit that there are areas of our lives where we have been less than faithful. When we stand before God he will not be able to say to any of us that we have been faithful in everything. Somewhere along the line we have all been unfaithful in something. Perhaps we were not as faithful as we should have been in reading our Bibles. Perhaps we were not as faithful as we should have been in sharing our faith. Perhaps we are not as faithful in our prayers as we ought to be. Perhaps we have not been faithful as a parent, a friend, a church member or even a spouse. We all can think of areas where we have been less than faithful.

In the parable of the talents the master praised his servant for being "faithful in a few things." He did not say all things or most things, but a few things. He was comparing this to the Kingdom of Heaven so this applies to you and me in our relationship with our Master.

It is not the fact that we have been faithful in all things that will matter but that we have been faithful in a few things.

We could go on and on listing the areas in our lives where we were not as faithful as we should have been. But when we stand before the Lord I don't think we are going to be reminded of those. I believe we are going to stand before him and be praised for the few things where we were faithful. Perhaps I cannot be faithful in everything but I can be faithful in something. Perhaps I have failed in my faithfulness in one area but that doesn't mean it has to be that way in every area.

Our unfaithfulness may far outweigh our faithfulness, but we can at least finish faithful.

Be faithful in whatever areas you can with what time you have left. Do not feel disheartened because of the lack of faithfulness in some areas of your life but be encouraged that our Lord will one day speak well of you because of your faithfulness in a few things. The greatest among us has been unfaithful in more areas than not but when we get to heaven it will not be those areas about which he will speak. No, instead he will speak of the few areas where we have been faithful.

Well done my good and faithful servant you've been faithful in a few things. That's better than nothing.
